Welcome to season 2012, and what a season we have in store for you. 2012 is going to be about the emergence of our Next Generation of players. SUFC is working hard to develop our next Tim Davidson, Phil Waugh and Tom Carter and from the talent we have coming through our ranks, it will not be long before these big shoes are filled.Our coaching team have put together an exceptional off season program, with our Elite Development Squad completing 9 training sessions a week, over a period of 12 weeks, our most extensive off season program to date. The 2011/2012 off season program has also seen the introduction of the Wider Training Group (WTG), to accommodate players who have a heavy academic or employment work load.
The SRU have made a change to the competition format in 2012 which will see all clubs compete for a position in the Top 6, after the first 11 rounds of competition. The motivation behind this decision is to ensure all teams play highly competitive matches and lift the standard of the competition. Once again in 2012 we will be looking to host some inclusive and engaging theme days and functions at our home games, which cater for all of our supporters. Saturday afternoon at No. 1 Oval is a fantastic opportunity to watch some quality rugby, catch up with old friends and experience the traditions of Australia’s oldest rugby club.
The final thing I would like to draw your attention to is the “Expand the Pride” initiative. Membership is a crucial aspect of our Club and we need your help to expand our family, and by doing so you will be rewarded with some “money can’t buy” prizes.

NEW in 2012!! Members Insight
As a new initiative our members will experience firsthand what the coaches are aiming to achieve both on and off the field in 2012. Our members will receive a unique insight into the thoughts, plans and strategies of our experienced Head Coach, Todd Louden. This insight will be a great opportunity to interact with the SUFC coaching staff, which will include presentations, statistics and video analysis and a question and answer session.
Two sessions will be held during the 2012 season, one to be held on game day and another session to be held mid-week.
