Q & A with Tony Sukkar, Group Managing Director

What was the motivation to start Buildcorp? I always wanted to run my own business. The opportunity was brought forward by the 1990 recession.

How involved is your family in Buildcorp? My wife Josephine is a Principal with me in the business.

How long has the business been running and how has it evolved over the years? In February this year we reached a milestone of 20 years in business. In that time we have evolved from one operating business to four, and grown to a staff of around 200.

What do you believe to be the key factors in Buildcorp success? Without question the skills and commitment of our people.

What would you consider to be your highest achievement within Buildcorp? Over 20 years we have successfully completed more than 1000 projects and have been recognised by our industry with over 32 Master Builder’s Awards.

A rugby player yourself? Yes. Sydney University and Wests

Who will win Super 14s? The Waratahs

What do you enjoy about SUFC? I have been coming to the University to play for and then support the Club for more than 25 years. As you can imagine I have had the good fortune to indulge my passion for rugby while developing and maintaining lifelong friendships. It has been a wonderful community for not just my business but also for my family. My children Jordan and Isabella were practically raised at Number 1 Oval. I am very proud of my long association with this Club and look forward to enjoying many more successful Uni seasons. Up the Students!
