Parent & Son Dinner - Wednesday 18 August
The Sydney University Football Club would like to invite you to the 2010 Parent and Son Dinner which will be held at The Refectory, The Holme Building , Sydney University on Wednesday 18 August 2010 at 6.30pm for 7:00pm.
The Guest Speaker is Brigadier Rick Burr, DSC, MVO former head of both the Australian and NATO Special Air Services in Iraq and Afghanistan. Vince Sorrenti - Australia's top comedian and former SUFC front rower, will add to what should be a wonderful night.
This is a special opportunity for you to spend an evening with your son(s), - or your father and/or grandfather - in a wonderful setting and sharing the experiences of one of Australia’s most inspirational men. All details of the Dinner are on the link below.
Rick Burr has served in a broad range of high profile and demanding leadership roles in an Army career centred on service in the Special Air Service Regiment (SAS).
His extensive operational experience includes command of the Australian Special Forces Task Group, in Afghanistan and then Iraq, before recently spending 12 months back in Afghanistan as Commander of the multinational Special Forces assigned to the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force.
He has had the opportunity to function at the highest levels of the Defence Force and Government. His various postings include Military Assistant to the Chief of the Army, a secondment to the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, and his current role as Director General, Military Strategic Commitments.
His unique and diverse service also includes being the Equerry to Her Majesty The Queen for the Royal Visit to Australia in 2000, and assisting the Collingwood football club in a performance review of their football department.
He is a 1985 graduate of the Royal Military College Duntroon, and is a distinguished graduate of the United States Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, Virginia. He has been awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the US Bronze Star Medal, and is a Member in the Royal Victorian Order.
This is the first time that we have held such a Dinner and we are very fortunate that Rick will join us.
Rick is an extremely humble man and his message to young and old will be something that will be memorable for all attendees.
Vince Sorrenti is one of Australia's best known and leading comic entertainers. No comic is more in demand for everything from after dinner speaking to product launches, sports hospitality, awards ceremonies and any manner of corporate, fundraising, sporting or public event. Vince performs at over 200 events a year in Australia and overseas. He is also a former Sydney Uni Rugby Front Rower.
