Over the last 6 months SUFC and our junior program have reached out to hundreds of kids within the rugby community through our coaching clinics, try rugby days, training camps, holiday programs, school trainings and now our Junior State champs held all over NSW on the June long weekend.
The Junior Wallabies have confirmed their 31-player squad ahead of the upcoming Oceania Rugby tournament to be played on the Gold Coast in early July, included are 3 Students. Congratulations to Hugh Bokenham, Daniel Botha and Sione Taufui.
That the 1st XV win over last years Premiers was the 16th home win in a row, which started on the 22.7.2000 on No.1 Oval. The last time we kept Gordon to single points was 10.5.2014 when we won 46-7 at Chatswood Oval. Also Saturdays win was our 50th home win against the Highlanders.
Sydney’s glorious winter weather turned full circle last Saturday. In conditions resembling Captain Robert Scott’s trek to the Antarctic, wind, rain, bitterly cold conditions and a heavy ground failed to stifle the Students unbeaten run. Sydney University defeated 2020 Premiers, Gordon in a tradesman like 26-5 victory before a bumper crowd.
In 2019, the Club honoured Saxon White and the late Dr Dick Tooth and Dr John Solomon at the highly successful inaugural Legends Lunch and the planned 2020 Legends Lunch was cancelled because of Covid-19.
