We are pleased to announce Jack McCalman, Sera Naiqama, and Sam Bignold, as our Club Captains for 2021.
Jack, the Club’s most recent centurion will take the lead for Grade having been part of the leadership group for the past few years. Jack is a natural leader, having Captained many SUFC teams since joining the Club in 2014, including the 1st Colts Premiership in 2015, 2nd Grade victories in 2017 and 2019 as well as Captaining our tour parties to Japan in 2018 & 2019. Jack epitomises what it takes to be a Student with his dedication, determination and character.
Sera enters her second year as Women’s Club Captain after doing a stellar job throughout the disrupted COVID season, Sera who has been involved in the Club since 2013 has won five Jack Scott titles with the Lionesses. Sera has also representing NSW and Australia A, and she is currently in the Wallaroos squad as they prepare for the World Cup later this year. Knowing what it takes to play at higher honours Sera is a great role model for our young lionesses and embodies the club spirit both on and off the field.
Sam, now in his third year of Colts was a natural fit for the Colts Captain role, he’s mature, confident and highly respected by the senior players having been part of the 1st Colts back-to-back Premierships in 2019 & 2020. Sam is an asset to the Club, always willing to help out and does everything with a positive attitude and a smile on his face.
All three have been influential in driving the club culture and team morale during their time at SUFC and we have no doubt they will all to a great job leading the Club in 2021. Congratulations to Jack, Sera and Sam.
