A group of Wallabies at the 2019 Lunch
In 2019, the Club honoured Saxon White and the late Dr Dick Tooth and Dr John Solomon at the highly successful inaugural Legends Lunch and the planned 2020 Legends Lunch was cancelled because of Covid-19.
This year, on Saturday, 19 June, we are honouring five more of the Club’s Legends, being Dr Stewart Boyce, Jim Boyce, Dr Geoff Chapman, Sean Spence and Sparrow Dowse.
These men are true icons of the game of rugby and of Sydney University and deserve any and all recognition that can be given. We will also honour a number of other Sydney University Rugby stalwarts at the Lunch, some of whom who are not able to join us. These include Jack Potts, Rod Phelps, Peter Crittle and John O’Gorman.
We are delighted that the Lunch has been sold out and we have a number of supporters on the waiting list.
After the lunch, the ex-Wallabies and other supporters will watch 1st Grade take on Shute Shield reigning premiers, Gordon. There will be ample time to meet these men and their families who will be introduced to the crowd at halftime of the match.
We salute these true servants of the game of rugby, all of whom learned their craft at Sydney University.
