Third Grade (Henderson Shield)
Third Grade: Sydney University 30 (Jock Merriman 2, Andrew Hunter, William Macklin, Dylan Viera tries; Mesake Tagituimua con, William Macklin pen goal) defeated Manly 12 (Harley Attwater, Kiwi Kapene-Belcher tries; Harley Attwater con) at Keirle Park on Saturday.
Fourth Grade (Henderson Cup)

The day started on the right note with thumping defense from the kickoff as Harry Williams set the tone for the start of the match. Solid defense held Manly on their line and a charge down lead to first points in the corner.
The team was making up for the previous week as they were playing direct and with their pace and structure dictating most of the first half. However towards the end of the first half they started to play lateral and push the pass which invited manly back into the game.
After the half, the students bounced back and started to play a little smarter with up tempo footy running Manly off the park. Energy was raised further when the reserves came on and the students marched home for a 12-41 win.
Some solid performances from Harry Williams and Nick Burden who both had high intensity and were dominant in contact; congratulations to Ben Carolan who earned the 3 points in his 1st game for Uni against his old club. Notable mention goes to 4th Grade debutant Tim Davidson who came off the bench late in the 2nd half.
Fourth Grade: Sydney University 41 (Cameron Mason 2, Tyne Holmes, Benjamin Carolan, Edward L’Estrange, Alexander Brunt, Ben Cannon tries; Cameron Mason con, Ben Cannon con) defeated Manly 12 (Peter Squires, Kevin Reed tries; Peter Squires con) at Keirle Park on Saturday.
First Colts (W. McMahon Memorial Shield)

Manly certainly turned up to play and win and were not going to back down for the eighty minutes. We got off to an excellent start with a try off our first set piece play from halfway but then quickly gave one back Manly that squared things up, which in turn we scored very quickly again. For the next 30 minutes the game turned into a bit of a scrappy affair.
In the second half, Manly spent a lot of time in our half but were not able to breach our line for the whole 2nd half except kicking a penalty midway through. While we were able to score three very good tries one starting from a scrum in our 22m with a cross field kick, a lineout drive and a counter attack from 60 metres out.
We are now the only undefeated team in the Colts 1 competition and has been a very promising start.

Second Colts: Sydney University 54 (Aidan Brown, Hugh Summerhayes, Jack London, Callum Styles, Tim McCutcheon, Sean Hasegawa, Alexander McDonald, Harry Potter; Callum Styles 5 cons) defeated Manly 0 at St Paul’s College Oval on Saturday.
Third Colts (Bill Simpson Shield)

Another bonus point victory saw the team cross for six tries against a spirited Manly side. A dominant first half performance was marginalised by some poor finishing that saw three tries go begging in the first 10 minutes. With Manly scoring a long range try against the run of play the score was 12-7 at the break.
Ringing in the changes at half time the aggression and tempo of the team lifted immediately with Zac Von Appen breaking the line several times and James Goddard a metronome in defence and at the breakdown – a point each for these two.
Steering the team to victory with another impressive display of command and control from Number 10 was Daniel Poletto who also bagged three conversions and two points for his efforts
Joining the team this week was 17 year old Bradley Amituanai who was Best On Ground scoring a 25m try on the bell with a barnstorming solo effort that clinched the three points.
