Cockfighter’s Ghost has a new legend, with the release of the new ‘Single Vineyard’ range.

Cockfighter’s Ghost has been a proud supporter of the Sydney University Football Club for the past 15 years, and is pleased to announce the release of its new Single Vineyard range, and sponsorship of the 2018 Sydney University Rugby Union season.

Cockfighter’s Ghost winemaker Xanthe Hatcher has been charged with putting her own stamp on the Cockfighter’s Ghost range and part of the label’s evolution is its regional shift to being entirely South Australian, showcasing single vineyards from McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills. The new ‘Single Vineyard’ range of wines are centred around the Agnew Family’s 20Ha Blewitt Springs vineyard in McLaren Vale, named The Chairman’s Vineyard in memory of Agnew Wines founder, Brian Agnew.

“The wines bear classic regional and varietal hallmarks of the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale, but the ‘Single Vineyard’ range allows me to explore and highlight the unique characteristics of specific sites in those regions– particularly The Chairman’s Vineyard in Blewitt Springs” said Xanthe Hatcher, Winemaker Cockfighter’s Ghost. “It’s a really special spot with huge potential – especially for more elegant styles of red.”

The Cockfighter’s Ghost Single Vineyard range consists of a series of red wines from The Chairman’s Vineyard including a Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and a Sangiovese Rose, as well as ‘The Legend’ blend. The reds are accompanied by Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc sourced from Single Vineyards in Adelaide Hills. April marks the release of two new Italian varietals as part of the range – Barbera and Nebbiolo, a first for Cockfighter’s Ghost.
