Did you know:

That 100 years ago , the Spanish flu hit Sydney town. And it killed almost 12.000 Australians, Billy Hughes was our Prime Minister and SUFC won the 1920 Premiership with a first past the post, (no finals that year).

After round one SUFC are equal first in the Club Championship along with Norths, Manly and Randwick on 261 points.

We had 17 players play their first grade game, with 9 of those players in our 4th grade team. The other 6 players had 71 grade games between then of which Harrison Blake had 37 of those 71.

In our First grade, 5 players made their debut, they are, Darcy Breen, Hugh Bokenham, Ofa Manuofetea,  Luke Porter, and Tom Willson who has waited a very long time to run on at 3 o’clock.

The last time we won at ‘Rat Park’ was the 23/4/2016, we won that day 22-19.

Three players with hyphenated surnames scored 5 tries between them, Sepisi Loga-Tarogi score a triple with Henry Clunie-Ross and Nick Champion- de Chispigny scored one each.

Besides Sepisi 3 tries, Will Terry also scored 3 in the 3rd XV win. While in Colts No.9 Haydon Podmore scored 3 in Colts 1sts big 49-30 win and L.Delavere picked up 3 in Colts 3rd grade.

Back on our 3rd grade seniors side, two players, looked after things as far as the score went. You see Will Terry scored 3 tries (15 points) while Max Robson scored a try, 4 goals and 2 pen goals for (19 points), hence our 34 -12 victory.

Jack McCalman scored his 49th career try when he came on as a replacement in the main game. He shall be hoping to score his 50th try a home next week to bring up his 250 career points.

Theo Strang posted his 150 career points with a try in 2nd grade. Now on 153 career points.

Well we have a big Grade Try Scoring Fun game this season with 5 Teams. There is the Scottish, Irish, Brothers, Hyphenated surnames and the Polynesian. At the moment H-surnames are leading on 5 ,Poynesian on 4 Scots on 2 , Irish on 1 and the Brothers 0.

A poem by Jack Macmenamey to our Jersey 1891
(*
1st grade coach 1884, 85, 86, 91, 92 and 93)

Farewell jersey blue and golden

Dear your face is, though an old ‘un

Faded in rain and sun

Many a year can we remember

How from May to springs September

Have those colours been our pride
