Did you know:
Prop Alex Batho (pictured) ran on for his 100th Grade game against Warringah and also became just the 21st player to score a try on his 100th appearance since the 2000 season, when this stat started. He also becomes our 148th centurion.
James Kane is now on 892 career points and Will Wennerbom moved to 440 career points and 43 for this season.
There have been lots of try scorers over the past fortnight, with Guy Porter and Ben Hughes scoring 4 tries each in 3 games, Will Wennerbom 4 tries in 2 run on games and 4 replacement games. Declan Moore after missing most of last year with injury has gone over for 3 tries in two matches.
Jay Spencer ran on for his 1st Grade debut as a replacement and scored a debut try, while other first tries in the main game went to Nathaniel Tamwoy and Banjo Travers, who took 15 games to score his.
Hamish Dunbar brought up his 100 career points since Colts in 2014 with his 20th try.
So we have 3 players who have scored 4 tries from 3 games and a further 5 players who have scored 3 tries from 3 games.
Now some 1st Grade stats from their Warringah game.
It took just 23 seconds for Captain, Guy Porter to score the first try, taking away Matt Narracott’s quickest try of 29 seconds in 2015 at Manly Oval. Of course still a long way off the real time of around 9 seconds from Ted Magrath (Wallaby winger) verses Norths on No.1 Oval in 1960 which was an intercept from the kick off.
Our 1st XV in its last two games against the “Rats” have scored 14 tries, 95 points and our last four home games against them has been 152 points an average of 38 points.
While our first 3 rounds in 2019 we have 127 points (an average score of 42.33 a game.
While we won by 50-0, we just missed a new club record of biggest win verses Warringah by just 1 point or 2 points for a new record (difference still stands) set 47 years ago on No.1 Oval on 1.4.1972 with a score of 57-6.
1st Grade also hadn’t beaten the “Rats” to nil since 2012, that being a 12-0 win.
1st Grade Trivia: The letter ‘S’ is very popular in our forward pack, with Sandell, Sherratt, Spencer, Summerhayes, Suttor, Swinton and throw in a halfback with Strang. Coach Taylor may have to work on the Schwager brothers and Jack Stanford.
This week we will see Ben Hughes play his 50th club game.
