Did you know:

To have a successful club you need many things to go your way, and one of those is to have a good coach. Well at Uni in our grade sides, we have three of the best.

With Robert Taylor (1sts), Ray Hudd (2nds) and James Caterson (3rds) they have coached for 23 seasons at the ‘varsity. Between them they have 10 premierships and runners up on 5 occasions. With a break down of Rob 71 games 64 wins 7 losses nil draws. Ray has 246 games 193 wins 46 losses and 7 draws and James 133 games 112 wins,19 losses and 2 draws. So their success rate is Rob 90.14%, Ray 81.30% and James 85.71%. That is 450 games with an average between the three of them being, an 84.00% chance of winning a game.

Lots of things happened against Souths last Saturday with 7 bonus point wins for the second week in a row. We scored a massive 427 points to their 100. We scored 60 tries to 13. We had seven players score 2 tries and Josh Hardie (pictured) got 3 but it wasn’t the besy as 2nd Grade hooker Declan Moore scored 4 (surely a  record) for a number two at SUFC. Our goal kickers put 31 kicks over with 4 kickers getting 30 between them for average goal per grade at 7.25%. The average score for the 7 teams was 61-14 and for grade only 68-12.

Lots of milestones also achieved verses the ‘Rebels’, with Will Wennerbon reaching his 500th career point with a try and 10 goals (25 pts) in 3rds then onto 2nds as a replacement for a further 2 tries. Which gave him 35 for the afternoon and took him to 136 points for this season. With the above scores for young ‘Bomber’ he reack 40 career tries (200 pts) and kicked his 150th goal/pen goal for the club.

Declan Moore and Will Wennerbom are equal leading try scorers with 12 each and 5 tries clear of Ben Hughes on 7. Declan’s 12 tries is the most he has scored in a season at the club and we are not at the halfway  mark yet.

Nathaniel Tamwoy reached 150 career points with his second try in 1st grade.

Pat Muller back from a break score a try in 4th grade and picked up his 250th career points since Colts.

Ben Hughes scored his 60th try (300 pts) since Colts in 2013 at the end of the 1st grade win.

Jack McCalman scored another double, and in doing so reached his 40th career try or (200 points).

Fourth grade Fullback Kim Se Hong scored the club 150th try for the year.

Tom Robertson will play his 50th game for the Waratahs next weekend.

Trivia Stat: Only three times has the grade teams missed a bonus points the year. That’s from 32 matches 4th to 1st grade 8 rounds gone.
