This weekend’s Country Round fixture is going to be particularly memorable for one player in particular, hailing from Central West’s Geurie and playing his junior rugby for the Wellington Redbacks, Mitch Whiteley will make his long awaited 100th appearance for the Club on Saturday.

Mitch who official joined SUFC in 2013, but unfortunately missed the season through injuries, had to wait until 2014 to pull on the Blue and Gold. He made his 1st Grade debut on 17.5.2014 with a 61-21 win over Penrith.

Since 2014, Mitch has won three Premierships – 2014 – 3rd Grade vs Warringah, 2017 – 2nd Grade vs Eastwood and 2019 – 1st Grade v Warringah. He has scored 263 career points and 51 tries, of which 17 have been in 1st Grade.

This weekend Mitch will come off the bench in 1st Grade to play his 100th game and his 49th 1st Grade game. Having taken a year out in 2020, and the COVID lockdown cancelling the 2021 season, it’s taken a while to get Mitch across the line for this impressive milestone, but what a fitting place to make his 100th appearance than in his home region of the Central West.

Congratulations Mitch, enjoy your day!
