The Sydney University Football Club and East Brisbane Tigers will battle it out this weekend in Brisbane for the Australian Club Championship title. The annual fixture between the premier clubs in the Sydney and Brisbane rugby competitions will kick off at 5.30pm on Saturday March 22, in Coorparoo, Brisbane.

With the friendly rivalry that always comes with a NSW and Queensland sporting clash, it is set to be an exciting game, and SUFC Head Coach, Chris Malone, is looking forward to the trip and the experience the boys will gain from it as the season fast approaches.

“The Australian Club Championship game this weekend will be a huge test for a young side, but one that we are looking forward to” said Malone. “We will travel up to Brisbane on the day of the game and will be looking to put in a level of performance that we need with the start of the Shute Shield only a week away”

Malone is aware of the tough contest they have on their hands against the East Brisbane Tigers side, and as a result, sees a great game on the horizon.

“The East Brisbane Tigers have a very good side, and with a handful of players that have been the best in the Brisbane competition in recent seasons, they are sure to provide a very stiff challenge, which is exactly what we need” said Malone. “Recognising that these two sides were the best in their respective Premier competitions last season means the game should be a high quality one”.
