Back in 2009, Nick Tooth made his debut in Shute Shield rugby as as a promising young breakaway down at Easts Rugby. Nick attended Wesley College while studying at Sydney Uni and was great mates with plenty of Uni players. He became one of Easts most valued clubmen, always willing to put everything out there for the team, if that meant riding the pine or bashing out one of the best sidesteps seen in Shute Shield history.
On April 19th 2015, Nick tragically passed away following a devastating head injury he received playing rugby union on his home soil in Quirindi, NSW.
The Nick Tooth Foundation was established in 2016 by Nick’s family to raise awareness around player safety and wellbeing, assist in the prevention of brain-related injury and promote the positive spirit of rugby union.
This Saturday 20th October, the annual Toothy Tens competition will be held at Easts Rugby Club where the rugby community will come together to celebrate Nick’s life, legacy and the game of rugby. We would encourage all rugby supporters to heard to Woollahra Oval for a great day of running rugby and good times! There will be plenty of Students (past and present) having a run around.
All funds raised on the day will got towards the Nick Tooth Foundation created in an effort to make the game of rugby safer, understand the nature of brain related sports injuries and help prevent mental health issues in regional communities
Plenty to entertain you on the day with 20 teams entering the 2018 competition, plus Easts v Sydney Uni Womens, live music, DJ’s, Pop up bars and more!
