It is with deep sadness that we inform the SUFC community of the passing of former player, coach and Club President, Forbes Pratt.

  • Player (1950-55)
  • Coach (1957-60) including 2nd Grade premiership in 1960
  • President (1970-75)
  • Committee Member (1950-75)

The above list is in short form the association has had with SUFC.

It is an inspiring record but in no way represents his true worth to Sydney University and particularly to the Club. His family has been associated with the Club since the early 1920s and no other family can claim such a long association with the Football Club.

He was a very reliable and courageous player in the 50s during one of the Club’s ‘Golden Eras’ and then dedicated years to SUFC thereafter. His work as a SUFC representative to the New South Wales and Sydney Rugby Unions, against certain prejudices, was one of the reasons the Club was able to successfully survive and prosper.

Rugby and SUFC were two great loves of Forbes’ and he served them both with the integrity, reliability and loyalty which are the cornerstones of his character. Forbes continued to follow the Students all these years later and he would regularly be seen attending matches at the SUFG. He will be sorely missed by all. We send our deepest condolences to the Pratt family at this sad time.

Details of Forbes’ service will be shared in due course.
