In our first pre-season tournament for 2015, SUFC competed in the annual Crescent Head Sevens competition last weekend - the perfect opportunity for some of our boys to play against some very quality rugby opposition as the Shute Shield tournament fast approaches.
“To our Vaaaarsity…… Up the Students!” is rarely heard bellowing out of rugby grounds in December but there is another University match, on the hallowed turf of Twickenham, that has seen many young athletes swap the blue and gold SUFC hoops for a dark or light blue jersey. It is, of course, the Oxford vs Cambridge match.
This weekend SUFC will be taking a team of boys up north to participate in the annual Crescent Head 7s competition!
With the 7s codes rapidly growing and the competition becoming more fierce, a squad of boys, coached by ex-Wallaby and SUFC player Julian Huxley, have been training for the past few weeks over the pre-season with a specific 7s focus.
It may only seem like yesterday since the 2014 Shute Shield Grand Finals, but the start of the 2015 Club Rugby season is already fast approaching, with SUFC having played their first pre-season trial against the NSW Waratahs on Saturday at Granville Park.
To kick off the season, and the start of our pre-season trials for 2015, SUFC will be involved in the NSW Waratahs 2015 Fan Day, playing a 30-minute trial match against the defending Super Rugby Champions at Granville Park this Saturday January 31.
